What Men Want (A response)

What men want

In the spirit of balance….
a response to my wonderful writing partner, bruisedbelly

Thank you dear for telling us
we sometimes miss the clues
but now I’ll take this opportunity
to share some Manly views

We need a lot of sex
more than you even know
we want it hard and fast
we like it soft and slow

We want you to surprise us
naked at the door
calling from the bedroom
screaming you want more

Of course we know to woo
and listen to your thoughts
but when there is no payoff
we get all distraught

Don’t misunderstand
it’s not a tit for tat
we are basic creatures
no denying that

YOU need to feel desired
to feel the primal urge
WE need the primal acts
to feel a caring surge

The chicken or the egg
which one was the first
let’s meet in the middle
to quench our passions thirst

Pavlov rang his bell
the doggie he did drool
got a treat with every chime
while in his doggie school

But take away his little treat
the drooling it will stay
but soon enough it will stop
he’ll learn the other way

So we will flirt and woo
if you will share the treat
everyone stays satisfied
and both enjoy the heat

When we show we care
be sure we get our due
it doesn’t come so naturally
we do it just for you

    • Thank you so much. πŸ™‚
It can be a touchy subject. Some women think it is the man’s job to get her in the mood. And if he doesn’t, it’s his own fault she doesn’t want to have sex.
Some men think the woman should just “be” in the mood all the time like he is. Neither is 100% correct. It goes both ways and requires understanding of each other’s needs. As always, just my opinion.

  1. Both yours and BB’s poems describe the balance in a relationship so perfectly. We humans really aren’t so complex, you two have hit the nail on the head πŸ˜€ So why do we find it so hard to give and take on an equal level I wonder :/

    • Insecurity and selfishness. And selfishness is born of insecurity. The human condition. It’s why we look for someone to balance and challenge us, not simply agree all the time. Great comment. Thank you!!!

      • Truer words have never been spoken πŸ™‚

Selfishness of wanting someone all to yourself, being insecure they’re looking for someone else, and Jealousy born of both of those which leads to taking more than giving… It’s so backwards, but it’s how we fucked up humans seem to work. :/

      • The good thing is, you recognize it. That is the first and most important step. You can’t purposely change that which you are oblivious to. The second part is that we need to accept our short falls and understand people will fail. That doesn’t mean they fail US, they simply come up short sometimes. You do, I do… we all do. And it’s fine. πŸ™‚

  2. Again, so true πŸ™‚ . Heaven knows I’ve failed too many times to count, but it’s how we respond to the failures that define us, not the mistake itself (or so I believe)

    • Not to get all “Biblical” on you, but this is a truism regardless of religion or lack thereof.

“Love the sinner, hate the sin.”

Many people struggle with that concept. They feel that if they fail, somehow they are not worthy of the other person’s love. It’s the exact opposite. We are loved in spite of our failures. It’s a pretty sweet deal when you think about it. πŸ˜€

      • I’m one that thinks if I fail, then I’m worth as much as said failure. But through an incredible boyfriend, and getting to converse with people like you, I’m learning to see that actually, everyone has worth and value and failures don’t count for who you are as a person. Just another fall and drop on the roller coaster of life doesn’t make it the end of the line πŸ™‚

  3. I must say that if it wasn’t for your advice I don’t think I’d ever have reached a place in which I can see things this way πŸ™‚

    • It’s only the truth. I don’t know how but somehow you helped me put things into perspective and your advice/opinions are always so simply to the point and so easy to understand/listen to that it’s impossible not to take it on board and see the truth in what you say πŸ™‚

  5. Your poem rings true as just the right balance to bruisedbelly’s “What Girls Want.” A great duo of poems!
